Education and training

Children's safety and accessibility come before features.

Schools, colleges and edtech companies now work to DfE digital standards, annual filtering and monitoring reviews, AI product safety standards and accessibility law. We build learning products, parent-facing services and provider systems with those requirements built in.

The sector

Education and training, in numbers.

England's schools serve almost nine million pupils, and the DfE expects every school and college to meet its core digital standards by 2030.

24,499
schools in England, teaching just over 8.9 million pupils (DfE school census, January 2026).
2030
the date by which schools and colleges should meet six core digital and technology standards (DfE, September 2026).
What the rules ask of you

The rules shaping your software.

The regulations and standards that change what your systems, website and data handling need to do, each with its date and a link to the source.

01 DfE digital and technology standards updated August 2026 Schools and colleges should meet six core standards by 2030. The filtering and monitoring standard now refers to the DfE's generative AI product safety standards, and the cyber security standard was updated in June 2026. Source
02 Keeping children safe in education 2026 in force September 2026 Filtering and monitoring must be reviewed at least once a year, and the guidance now covers AI and deepfakes. Source
03 Public sector accessibility regulations partly apply to schools Schools and nurseries are partly exempt, but content that parents need in order to use services, such as forms, payments and bookings, must be accessible, with an accessibility statement. The benchmark is WCAG 2.2 AA. Source
04 Apprenticeship funding rules 2026 to 2027 Providers must meet the funding rules and the 2026 to 2027 learner data specification, including evidence of off-the-job training. Source

Thirty minutes with a senior engineer, free and with no obligation. Bring the problem, not a brief.

What we will not claim.

We are not DfE approved or accredited, and no product is KCSIE compliant on its own. Schools and providers stay responsible for safeguarding decisions. We build accessible, safe and auditable systems that support those duties.

Education and training questions

Frequently asked questions.

Can you build edtech that meets the DfE's AI product safety standards?

Yes. We design to the DfE's generative AI product safety standards from the start, covering filtering, age-appropriate responses, monitoring and avoiding manipulative design. Schools will judge products against these standards when they buy, so building to them early saves a rebuild later.

Does accessibility law apply to our school's website?

Partly. State schools are partly exempt from the public sector accessibility regulations, but content that parents need in order to use services, such as forms, payments and bookings, must be accessible, and you need an accessibility statement. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and help you write the statement.

Can you help a training provider with learner data and evidence?

Yes. We build learner record systems, off-the-job training trackers and evidence portfolios that match the current funding rules and learner data specification, with checks before data is submitted, so problems surface early rather than at audit.

Is our safeguarding data safe with you?

We build with role-based access, audit logs, UK hosting and data minimisation, and we sign a Data Processing Addendum before work starts. Safeguarding decisions stay with your designated safeguarding lead. The system records them; it does not make them.
