Financial services and fintech

The FCA judges your outcomes. Your systems have to show them.

Consumer Duty, operational resilience and the financial promotions rules all ask firms to prove what happens to customers, not just describe it. We build the journeys, workflows and records that let you show your working.

The sector

Financial services and fintech, in numbers.

Financial and related professional services form one of the UK's largest sectors, and most of the jobs are outside London.

£290bn
economic output from UK financial and related professional services in 2025, about 11 per cent of the total (TheCityUK, June 2026).
2.5m
people employed in the sector, two thirds of them outside London (TheCityUK, June 2026).
What the rules ask of you

The rules shaping your software.

The regulations and standards that change what your systems, website and data handling need to do, each with its date and a link to the source.

01 Consumer Duty since July 2023 Firms must deliver good outcomes for retail customers across products and services, price and value, consumer understanding and consumer support. It has applied to open products since 31 July 2023 and to closed products since 31 July 2024. Source
02 Operational resilience fully in force since March 2025 Firms must stay within impact tolerances for their important business services. The transition period ended on 31 March 2025, so the systems behind those services have to be mapped and tested. Source
03 Financial promotions on social media FG24/1, March 2024 Promotions must be fair, clear and not misleading in every format, including social media posts and finfluencer content. Approving promotions for unauthorised firms has needed FCA gateway permission since February 2024. Source
04 Approving promotions PS23/13, since February 2024 Authorised firms need specific FCA permission before they approve financial promotions for others, so promotion sign-off has to be recorded properly. Source

03 Resilience mapping and testing Mapping important business services to the systems behind them, failover testing, monitoring and cloud exit plans.
04 Open banking integrations Payment and account data features through FCA-authorised open banking providers, with consent and data handling designed in.

What we will not claim.

We are not FCA authorised, we do not approve financial promotions, and no website or app is FCA compliant on its own. Your firm stays responsible for its regulated activities. We build the systems, journeys and records that help you meet your obligations and show the evidence.

Financial services and fintech questions

Frequently asked questions.

Are you FCA authorised?

No. We are a software and AI development company, not a regulated firm, and we do not carry out regulated activities or approve financial promotions. We build the systems you use to meet your obligations, and your compliance team keeps responsibility for them, as the rules require.

Can you build customer journeys for Consumer Duty?

Yes. We design journeys around the four outcomes: products and services, price and value, consumer understanding, and consumer support. That means plain disclosures, easy cancellation, support for vulnerable customers and the data you need to monitor and report outcomes.

Can you help with operational resilience?

We can map your important business services to the systems behind them, add monitoring and failover, test recovery and document cloud exit plans. Setting impact tolerances is your firm's decision, but we can build the technology to meet them and test that it does.

Do you build open banking features?

Yes, through FCA-authorised account information and payment initiation providers, so you do not need your own authorisation for the connection. We design consent, data minimisation and record keeping around UK GDPR and the provider's requirements.
